[patches] Including IBM add-ons in EGLIBC?

Geoff Smith at IBM asked me to forward the following note about possibly
functionality to include in EGLIBC.

Perhaps the EGLIBC maintainers could comment?

> IBM has two add-ons for glibc that might be of interest to eglibc -- feel

> 1. powerpc-cpu add-on (implements CPU-tuned environment for powerpc)
> Interest: Libraries tuned to a specific CPU, useful for applications that
> would run platforms with more than one processor variant (for example,
> runs on a platform that is upgraded to a new CPU, and it must still run on
> the old one)
> Possible work -- add optimizations for Freescale's E500 cpus, extend to
> non-powerpc CPUs
> 2. DFP add-on
> http://sources.redhat.com/ml/libc-alpha/2006-11/msg00019.html
> Motivation: Provide library support for DFP types, introduced in gcc 4.2.
> DFP is a feature of interest for point-of-sale terminals, an embedded
> application.
> Possible work -- actually, we think this is pretty complete now.
